It is with great sadness that SIETAR USA has learned of the recent passing of Dr. Jay Jones. While Jay was not involved with SIETAR USA in recent years, his passion for teaching and the intercultural field has informed many interculturalists and SIETAR USA members who had the opportunity to study with him at Lesley University’s Intercultural Relations Master’s Program. Jay touched many students’ lives in the more than 40 years he taught at Lesley. After joining the university in 1980, he was instrumental in planning and launching the Intercultural Relations Program, currently known as the International Higher Education Master’s Program. Jay retired from Lesley in 2021 and received the distinction of Professor Emeritus. His virtual retirement ceremony was attended by more than 70 current and past students who dialed in from around the world and shared heartwarming stories of the impact Jay had on their lives. While Jay will be greatly missed, his legacy continues to live on in the thousands of students he touched during his illustrious career.
