Goddard College’s MFA program in Interdisciplinary Arts envisions the arts as transformational practice. We conceive of artmaking as a form of critical thinking that integrates research and interdisciplinary problem-solving to engage ethically in public contexts. We seek faculty advisors committed to dialogic, student-centered, innovative approaches to the education of practicing artists.
The successful candidate’s primary practice should lie within the disciplines of dance, theater, and performance with expertise in some of the following areas: dance theater, acting, directing, socially engaged theater, improvisation, movement, and choreography. We are particularly interested in candidates engaged in anti-racism and anti-oppression work through or within discourses in social and environmental justice, intersectionality, African or diaspora studies, indigenous and decolonial studies and/or studies in cultures of the global south. Ability to engage with a wide range of media, and support the development of students with diverse art philosophies, values, and learning styles essential. MFA or equivalent required.
Service as a faculty member in the MFAIA program includes attending a ten day residency each semester, mentoring students through written exchanges over the course of a 15-week semester and providing a small amount of service to the college. Compensation is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement Faculty Salary Scale, approximately $8,700.00 - $10,000.00 depending on a student load of 5 or 6 students. These positions are dependent upon enrollment.
Faculty will serve in the Plainfield, VT residency and must be available to attend the virtual residency January 20 - January 29, 2021.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
