Making Sense of Russia in the 21st Century
“There are always two sides to the coin, but in Russia, maybe three”. This quote comes from Frederick R. Andresen, an American businessman, who lived and worked in Russia for a few years. You practically have to be Russian to truly and deeply understand how something like this makes perfect sense. Russia has been in the news a lot as it is hacking its way through world politics, fights undeclared wars, struggles with growing political unrest and falling economy, and desperately tries to regain its sense of a superpower. We will go beyond headlines and explore from cultural as well as political/geopolitical perspectives what exactly is happening with the largest country in the world that holds second largest nuclear arsenal.
